Throws three touchdown passes
Mahomes completed 16 of 31 pass attempts for 295 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Patriots. He also carried two times for 11 yards in the 37-31 AFC Championship Game overtime loss.
Analysis: Mahomes struggled at times, posting a completion rate of just 52 percent as his team went scoreless into halftime. He hit several big plays in the second half, adding touchdown passes to Travis Kelce and Damien Williams (two) as he brought his team all the way back to force overtime. It was an improved performance over Mahomes' playoff debut a week ago, but unfortunately, his outstanding season comes to an end with this defeat. He lit the league up for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns during the…read more

Uses his wheels to score
Mahomes connected on 27 or 41 passes for 278 yards during Saturday's 31-13 win over the Colts. He added eight yards and a touchdown on three carries.
Analysis: The numbers weren't as mind-meltingly insane as some others Mahomes put up during this season's MVP campaign, but several of the throws were as the sophomore passer seemed to break the will of the Colts at times with a handful of truly ridiculous passes from a variety of arm angles. When it came to actually getting in on some of the scoring fun, Mahomes did his damage with his legs, rolling out, pumping, and diving for the corner of the end zone for a four-yard score just before halftime. The…read more

Joins elite company
Mahomes completed 14 of 24 pass attempts for 281 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 35-3 win over Oakland.
Analysis: It wasn't Mahomes' biggest fantasy performance, but that was largely due to the Raiders' inability to keep the game close. The MVP candidate reached the 5,000-yard and 50-touchdown mark with an 89-yard bomb to Demarcus Robinson in the third quarter, joining Peyton Manning as the only other QB to reach those marks in a single season. The win secured the Chiefs with a first-round bye in the playoffs, so Mahomes will become DFS-eligible in the divisional series.

Tosses three scores
Mahomes completed 23 of his 40 pass attempts for 273 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Seahawks. He also added three carries for 33 yards.
Analysis: Mahomes wasn't particularly efficient as he averaged only 6.8 yards per attempt, but still put up a strong performance on the strength of his three scores. He added to his list of highlight reel touchdowns when he found Charcandrick West on the run midway through the third quarter for a 25-yard touchdown. He also chipped in 33 rushing yards -- his third-highest total of the season -- and is now approaching 300 yards on the ground for the season. With the AFC West still up for grabs, Mahomes…read more

Solid but unspectacular in loss
Mahomes completed 24 of 34 passes for 243 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Chiefs' 29-28 loss to the Chargers on Thursday. He also rushed twice for three yards and fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Mahomes turned in another solid and clean stat line, and his night could have been much bigger had Tyreek Hill not had a perfectly thrown deep ball bounce off his facemask on a play where he was also guilty of an illegal shift. The second-year gunslinger did manage to extend his multi-touchdown streak to nine games, and he's now completed over 70 percent of his passes in six of his last eight contest. Mahomes also managed to make his initial connection with new arrival Kelvin Benjamin, and he…read more

Another monster game in OT win
Mahomes completed 35 of 53 attempts for 377 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 27-24 win against the Ravens.
Analysis: Trotting onto the field facing a touchdown deficit with 4:04 remaining in regulation against the Ravens, Mahomes was entrusted with a golden opportunity to further bolster his sterling MVP resume. With help from a miraculous cross-field throw to Tyreek HIll that yielded 48 yards, Mahomes led his team downfield to tie the score at 24 late in the fourth quarter, as the Chiefs eventually prevailed over Baltimore with an overtime field goal. Mahomes has been ridiculously productive from the jump…read more

Four passing TDs in win at Oakland
Mahomes completed 23 of 38 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns, adding nine rushes for 52 yards during Sunday's 40-33 win against the Raiders.
Analysis: The second-year quarterback continues to play an ungodly level, with 853 offensive yards and 10 touchdowns over Kansas City's past two games following a slight hiccup in Week 10 (career-low 249 passing yards against Arizona). Peyton Manning's all-time single-season mark of 55 touchdown passes remains within reach, as Mahomes finds himself on pace for 54.7 with games remaining against the Ravens (top-10 against the pass), Chargers (top-10), Seahawks (13th) and Raiders (14th). Has six scores, five turnovers in loss
Mahomes completed 33 of 46 passes for 478 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions in Monday night's 54-51 loss to the Rams. He also rushed six times for 28 yards and lost two fumbles.
Analysis: Mahomes reveled in Monday's shootout atmosphere, setting a new career high in passing yards while tossing six touchdowns for the second time this season. Although those exploits allowed Kansas City to flirt with victory, Mahomes' turnovers ultimately proved costly, as he had a second-quarter fumble and a third-quarter interception both returned for touchdowns. Then, with the Chiefs needing him to muster some magic late, he threw picks on the team's final two offensive possessions. Overall, the…read more

Practicing fully despite foot issue
Mahomes (foot) appears on the Chiefs' Week 11 injury report, but he practiced fully Thursday, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports.
Analysis: There's little doubt that Mahomes will be available for Monday night's game against the Rams, but his presence on his team's injury report is not entirely surprising, on the heels of absorbing five sacks versus the Cardinals in Week 10. Given that the Chiefs and Rams are the NFL's second and third-highest scoring teams to date, there's shootout potential in a compelling Monday Night Football matchup featuring two 9-1 teams.

Guts out tough win
Mahomes completed 21 of 28 passes for 249 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Chiefs' 26-14 win over the Cardinals on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 21 yards.
Analysis: Mahomes got knocked around a bit more than usual, taking five sacks and seven official hits overall. He was also playing without the benefit of his No. 2 receiver in Sammy Watkins (foot), but Mahomes still found a way to play a mistake-free game despite the adversity, snapping an unsightly five-game interception streak in the process. Mahomes connected with Tyreek Hill for both of his touchdown passes, finding the speedster for a 37-yard scoring connection in the first quarter before capping…read more

Keeps good times rolling
Mahomes completed 23 of 32 passes for 375 yards, three touchdowns and an interception during Sunday's 37-21 win over Cleveland. He added 18 yards on two carries.
Analysis: Facing off against one of the higher-ranked pass defenses in the league, Mahomes set a career high in passing yards and got things going in the middle of the first quarter with a 50-yard dump-off to Kareem Hunt for the game's first score. Mahomes has now thrown for 300 or more yards in eight consecutive games -- one away from Drew Brees' record -- and has tossed three or more touchdowns in six of those games. Tosses four touchdowns
Mahomes completed 24 of 34 passes for 303 yards, four touchdowns and an interception during Sunday's 30-23 win over Denver.
Analysis: Mahomes started and ended cold, but he tore up the field in the second and third quarters, where he was particularly adept at finding Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce on opponent mismatches. Late in the second quarter, for instance, he smartly found Watkins matched up on a linebacker and uncorked a 13-yard strike on an out-and-in for a touchdown. That chemistry might be important depending on the health of Tyreek Hill, who left the game with a groin injury. Mahomes did throw an ill-advised…read more

Shines again in primetime
Mahomes completed 28 of 39 pass attempts for 358 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 45-10 win over Cincinnati. He added 45 rushing yards on four carries.
Analysis: Mahomes didn't need a second-half offensive explosion this time around on Sunday Night Football. The young gunslinger was firmly in control from start to finish, picking apart a helpless Bengals defense. Mahomes' biggest blemish on the night was an uncharacteristic underthrown ball to Tyreek Hill in triple coverage on a deep post that safety Shawne Williams picked off in the third quarter. It is interesting to note that head coach Andy Reid had Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs' offense…read more

Puts up huge numbers in second half
Mahomes completed 22 of 36 pass attempts for 352 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 43-40 loss to New England.
Analysis: It was a tale of two halves for the young gunslinger, who entered halftime with two interceptions and a 15-point deficit in a tough road environment. While the Chiefs narrowly missed a comeback victory, Mahomes turned his fantasy performance around with four second-half touchdowns, three of them to Tyreek Hill. The 23-year-old experienced sustained adversity for the first time in his career after being stifled and picked off twice by the Jags' vaunted defense last week, but the resilience he…read more

Picked twice, still wins
Mahomes completed 22 of 38 passes for 313 yards and two interceptions during Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jaguars. He added 13 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
Analysis: We finally got our first glimpse of what it looks like when Mahomes isn't firing on all cylinders in the passing game. The result wasn't much different. The second-year passer slipped out of the pocket in the first quarter and dove for a four-yard score -- his second rushing touchdown in as many games. Everyone outside of Kansas City is waiting for Mahomes to crash back down to earth. He showed some signs of that on Sunday, but, as a big-play threat both with his arm and his legs in Andy Reid's…read more

Leads comeback victory
Mahomes completed 28 of 45 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 27-23 win over the Broncos. He also rushed three times for seven yards and another score.
Analysis: Mahomes' electric start to the season continued with another impressive performance. While his numbers weren't as gaudy as weeks prior, the second-year quarterback still led his team to a come-from-behind victory with numerous highlight throws, including one with his left hand. However, his first touchdown came thanks to his legs, as he ran in from eight yards during the second quarter. Another stellar effort in win
Mahomes completed 24 of 38 passes for 314 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 38-27 win over the 49ers on Sunday. He also rushed five times for seven yards and fumbled once but recovered.
Analysis: Mahomes demonstrated his versatility in Sunday's contest, as he racked up yet another impressive yardage total without relying on Tyreek Hill. The speedster only logged two receptions for 51 yards and was kept out of the end zone, but Mahomes simply turned to Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins, connecting with the duo on 13 occasions for 169 yards and a score (to Watkins). The second-year signal-caller hit nine different pass catchers overall, and he now has a jaw-dropping 13:0 TD:INT through three…read more

Blitzes 'burgh
Mahomes racked up 326 yards and six touchdowns on 23 of 28 passing during Sunday's 42-37 win over the Steelers. He added 18 yards on five carries.
Analysis: Mahomes started red hot, finding Chris Conley and Travis Kelce up the seams for two early touchdowns. He showed that he is human by slowing off that otherworldly pace a little bit as the game wore on, but Mahomes still looks like an absolute star to start his career. We're only two games in, but Mahomes' touchdown rate of 18.2 percent is over twice that of Carson Wentz's league-leading rate of 7.5 percent in 2017. Mahomes looks like he can only be contained, not stopped, in Andy Reid's offense.

Throws four touchdowns against Chargers
Mahomes completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for 256 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 38-28 win over the Chargers. He also had five carries for 21 yards.
Analysis: Expectations are high for Mahomes from a real life and fantasy perspective, and at least for one week, he delivered in a big way. He hooked up with speedster Tyreek Hill early and often, as the duo connected seven times for 169 yards and two touchdowns. About the only negative from Mahomes' fantasy performance was that he was not able to get star tight end Travis Kelce involved (just one catch on six targets for six yards), although one wouldn't expect that to be any sort of trend. Impresses in extended run
Mahomes completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 196 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears. He also added 11 yards on a pair of carries.
Analysis: Mahomes spread the ball around to seven different receivers as he completed 75 percent of his attempts. He got his team on the board with a 19-yard touchdown connection to Kareem Hunt out of the backfield. Mahomes also led the team in rushing during his time on the field, though that has more to do with the ineffectiveness of the runners on the day against an underrated Bears front. Finishes on high note
Mahomes completed eight of 12 passes for 138 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Friday's preseason game against the Falcons.
Analysis: The Kansas City offense was having a rough night until Mahomes unleashed a gorgeous deep ball to Tyreek Hill for a 69-yard touchdown with 17 seconds remaining in the first half. Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt accounted for nine targets and all of Mahomes' passing yards, while Sammy Watkins accounted for the other three targets without catching a pass. The interception came on a throw to Watkins, though the blame for the play lands squarely on Mahomes' shoulders. The Chiefs could give their…read more

Will play first half Friday
Coach Andy Reid relayed Tuesday that Mahomes will play the first half of Friday's exhibition game against the Falcons, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis: Mahomes, who will be working with the team's first-team offense in the game, should thus be in line for an uptick in attempts and yardage after completing five of seven passes for 33 yards in limited action in the Chiefs' preseason opener. The 2017 first-rounder is locked in as his team's franchise QB, following the offseason departure of Alex Smith. Sharp in limited action
Mahomes completed five of seven passes for 33 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Chiefs' 17-10 preseason loss to the Texans on Thursday.
Analysis: The promising second-year quarterback saw limited action as expected in the preseason opener, taking a seat after two drives. However, Mahomes got plenty of important work done on those possessions, hooking up with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt, three players whose play figures to be key to Mahomes' success in his first year under center. Expected to play Thursday
Mahomes is expected to play the first quarter of Thursday's preseason opener against the Texans, Brooke Pryor of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Chiefs coach Andy Reid wants to split the workload evenly between his four quarterbacks, ensuring Mahomes gets plenty of reps heading into his first season atop the depth chart. The 2017 first-round pick struggled with interceptions during the first week of training camp, but he now seems to be finding his comfort zone, completing 24 of 25 pass attempts (with one drop) during Tuesday's practice.

Struggling with turnovers early in camp
Mahomes has tossed seven interceptions in the Chiefs' first six training camp practices, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mahomes still has plenty of time to work out the kinks before the regular season rolls around, but it certainly hasn't been an ideal start to his reign as the Chiefs' starting quarterback. The second-year signal-caller notably made a poor decision during Wednesday's session, throwing one of his two picks on the day in the end zone rather than running the ball in for what would have been an easy score. Analysis: It's unclear if the workouts included Sammy Watkins, who signed a three-year, $48 million contract with Kansas City when the free agency period first opened. Aside from swapping out Albert Wilson (Dolphins) for Watkins and Alex Smith for Mahomes, the Chiefs will retain the core of their productive 2017 offense, including Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and four of five starters on the line. Takes over as starter in Kansas City
Mahomes will become the Chiefs' new starting quarterback with Alex Smith being traded to the Redskins, Terez Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: It's clear Mahomes has been the Chiefs' quarterback of the future since the team moved up 17 spots to draft him in the first round last April, but it's now apparent that the future is here. The 22-year-old has one start under his belt, a 27-24 win over the Broncos in Week 17 in which he completed 22 of 35 passes for 284 yards and one interception. Known for a rocket arm and athleticism, Mahomes will now get the entire offseason to get accustomed to his new role in the Chiefs' offense.

Mahomes completed 22 of 35 passes for 284 yards and one interception during Sunday's 27-24 victory at Denver. He also rushed seven times for 10 yards.
Analysis: With the Chiefs locked into the No. 4 spot in the AFC playoffs as the AFC West champion, head coach Andy Reid opted to sit regular starting quarterback Alex Smith, among other front-line skill-position players, Sunday. In Smith's place, Mahomes was able to earn his first NFL start, and he didn't disappoint in the win-loss columns. Draws Week 17 start

Analysis: With the Chiefs locked in as the AFC's No. 4 seed for the postseason, the team will give the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft his first regular-season playing time. Veteran starter Alex Smith will thus defer to the rookie signal caller in Week 17 before reclaiming the starting gig for the first round of playoffs. Mahomes will remain in a backup role during Sunday's game against the Jets after head coach Andy Reid reiterated that Alex Smith was the Chiefs' starting quarterback, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: While some members of the Chiefs' fan base may be clamoring for a change under center after the team lost for the fifth time in six games in Week 12 against Buffalo, Smith isn't completely at fault for Kansas City's demise.
