Joins Buffalo's practice squad
The Bills signed Stills to the practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Stills will provide the Bills with valuable emergency veteran depth at the wideout position behind Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley (knee) and Gabriel Davis. The 28-year-old appeared in 10 regular-season games with the Texans earlier this year, in which span he secured 11 of 19 targets for 144 yards and a touchdown.

Could join Bills
Stills is slated to visit the Bills on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Schefter notes that the wideout would need to pass through medical protocols before signing, but there's "optimism the deal gets done." If so, Stills would give the Bills valuable depth and experience behind starting wideouts Stefon Diggs, John Brown (ankle) and Cole Beasley (leg) for their upcoming playoff run.

Release due to reduced role
The Texans' decision to release Stills was a mutual one, because his role was reduced from last season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills went unclaimed off waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, while circumstances for the Texans have changed since the receiver was released last week. They may be in the market for a wide receiver after Will Fuller was suspended six games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs and Randall Cobb (toe) landed on injured reserve. At this point, the Texans will rely on Keke Coutee, Isaiah Coulter and possibly practice squad member Steven Mitchell as fill-ins…read more

Clears waivers
Stills (quadriceps) went unclaimed on waivers Monday and is now a free agent, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Texans waived Stills after he missed his first game of the season (last Thursday versus Detroit) due to a hamstring injury, and no organization made the move to claim him and take on the remainder of his contract. As such, Stills will now officially enter free agency, making the veteran speedster free to seek out a new contract with a team of his choosing.

Cut loose by Texans
The Texans waived Stills (quadriceps) on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Stills will be subject to waivers as he seeks to latch on with another team. He missed his first game of the season Thursday at Detroit due to a quad injury, so his health may come into play before he's eligible (and able) to suit up again. On the season, Stills has managed just 11 catches (on 19 targets) for 144 yards and one touchdown in 10 contests.

Ruled out for Week 12
Stills (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Stills won't be able to play on short rest after picking up the hamstring injury during Sunday's win over the Patriots. With Randall Cobb (toe) also ruled out for Thanksgiving Day, Keke Coutee should see a sharp bump in playing time as the No. 3 receiver behind Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks. Stills received encouraging results from his MRI on Sunday, so he should have a fair shot at playing in the team's Week 13 game versus the Colts on Dec. 6.

Limited Tuesday
Stills (quadriceps) was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills opens the short week as questionable for Thanksgiving Day against the Lions. He hasn't played more than 28 snaps in any one game this season, but he could get a bump in playing time with Randall Cobb (toe) ruled out Thursday. The caveat is that Stills is an outside-the-numbers receiver while Cobb operates in the slot, a spot more favorable to Keke Coutee.

Limited on estimated report
Stills (quadriceps) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate.
Analysis: Stills left this past Sunday's win against the Patriots with what was termed a leg injury at the time. The issue was redefined as a quad concern, with an MRI expected to happen Monday. While the results haven't been released, the fact Stills took part in Monday's walk-through generally is a good sign for the wide receiver. In the end, though, his status should be monitored as the week goes on to get a sense of his availability for Thursday's game in Detroit.

Encouraging MRI results
Stills (quadriceps) hasn't been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Lions after getting the results of Sunday's MRI back, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills got more promising news than fellow injured receiver Randall Cobb (toe), who is expected to miss Thursday's game. Keke Coutee should be the preliminary beneficiary of Cobb's absence in the slot, while Stills will likely continue to play a part-time role as the No. 4 wide receiver if he's able to dress in Detroit.

MRI on tap
Stills (leg) is set to receive an MRI after having been forced out of Sunday's 27-20 win over the Patriots, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills wasn't targeted before leaving Sunday's win due to a leg injury, and he's now set to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. Randall Cobb (foot) will also get an MRI after having been forced out Week 11.

Won't return to Sunday's game
Stills suffered a leg injury and won't return to Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Analysis: Randall Cobb (foot) is also done for the day, leaving Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Keke Coutee as the only remaining wide receivers for Houston. Stills will need to recover on a short week ahead of a Week 12 Thursday game against the Lions.

Suits up Sunday
Stills (back) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb also in the Texans' wide receiver mix, volume is an issue for Stills these days, a context that makes him a hit-or-miss fantasy option until or unless more snaps open up for him.

On track to play Sunday
Stills (back) remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, but he's expected to play in the Week 11 contest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Even though Stills is on track to suit up, he's been a hit-or-miss fantasy option this season with Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb all firmly ahead of him in the pecking order for snaps and targets among the Texans' wide receivers.

Questionable for Sunday
Stills (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Stills has played in every game this year, but he has yet to see more than four targets and 28 snaps in a single contest, and his workloads have been especially light in recent weeks. Keke Coutee or Isaiah Coulter will fill in as the Texans' fourth wide receiver if Stills doesn't end up playing this weekend.

Returns to practice
Stills (back) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
Analysis: Friday's final injury report of the week should reveal whether Stills approaches Sunday's game against the Patriots listed as questionable or free from a Week 11 injury designation. With Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb also in the Texans' wide receiver mix, volume has been an issue for Stills of late, which makes him a hit-or-miss fantasy option until or unless more snaps open up for him.

Misses practice with back injury
Stills didn't practice Wednesday due to a back injury, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

One catch in loss
Stills caught his lone target for six yards in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Browns.

Blanked in catch department
Stills was not targeted on 15 offensive snaps during Sunday's 27-25 win against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Despite Will Fuller having been shopped prior to the Nov. 3 trade deadline, Houston ultimately did not move any assets away from its deep wide receiver corps. This development certainly does not bode well for Stills' fantasy value going forward, as the 28-year-old has gone untargeted over two of his past three appearances. Under 50 yards again
Stills caught two of four targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 35-20 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Stills was held under 50 yards for the seventh time in seven games this season, and he has scored just once. He played 22 offensive snaps (32 percent), which is right at his season average. As long as the Texans' other wideouts stay healthy, there's little hope for Stills to make a fantasy impact from week to week. Given Houston's 1-6 record, it makes sense for the team to move Stills by the Nov. 3 trade deadline, which could change his fantasy relevance.

One catch in win
Stills caught his lone target for 14 yards in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Stills was coming off his most productive game of the season and had eight targets over the previous two games. That uptick in production, coupled with the organization parting ways with head coach/general manager Bill O'Brien, left roles uncertain heading into Week 5. However, not much changed for Stills, who remained fourth on the depth chart. He played just 28 percent of the snaps, his second-lowest workload in five games.

Produces fourth-quarter score
Stills caught two of four targets for 39 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-23 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Stills corralled a 24-yard Deshaun Watson TD pass on Houston's penultimate drive of the fourth quarter, but the wideout's efforts were not enough to keep Houston from dropping to 0-4 as the Texans proved unable to muster another score. The 28-year-old receiver has attracted four targets in each of his past two games after garnering just five combined targets Weeks 1 and 2. High target-to-snap ratio
Stills caught three of four targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 28-21 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Stills played a season-low eight snaps but had a season-high four targets in the loss. It's hard to see how Stills can raise his profile with three proven NFL commodities ahead of him on the depth chart. A Will Fuller injury -- not unheard of -- or disappointing production out of Brandin Cooks could benefit Stills, but until then, he likely won't be much of a fantasy asset in any given week.

Stills (illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: Given that Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb are also in the Texans' wide receiver mix, Stills can't be counted on to receive a steady share of targets, but he's a candidate to capably step into a larger role if any of the team's other key options at the position are forced to miss any time.

Stills was limited in Friday's practice due to an illness and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: Stills wasn't listed on the injury report until Friday, an indication that his illness is a new development. It's at least encouraging that the 28-year-old was able to practice on a limited basis, but a final decision on his status may not come until around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Two catches in Week 2
Stills caught two of three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 33-16 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Stills made his first grabs of the season after being shut out on two targets in Week 1. His playing time increased from 22 to 28 snaps, the result of a Will Fuller hamstring injury in the first half. Fuller returned to the game and is expected to be ready to go for Week 3 in Pittsburgh. Quiet night in opener
Stills played 22 snaps and had two targets in Thursday's 34-20 loss to the Chiefs in Week 1.

Stills could be in line for a heightened role in Thursday's season opener against the Chiefs if Brandin Cooks (quadriceps) is unable to play, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis: Stills was activated from the non-football illness list Sunday and showed little rust Monday, catching passes from quarterback Deshaun Watson. The 28-year-old caught 40 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns in his first year in Houston last season, but he faces a crowd at wideout in 2020. Analysis: After slightly more than a week on the NFI list, Stills is past his illness and able to practice, as intimated by coach Bill O'Brien on Friday, per Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com. Coach Bill O'Brien said it shouldn't be "too much longer" before Stills (illness) is available to practice, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Texans placed Stills on the non-football illness list, which is separate from the recently created reserve/COVID-19 list. Whatever the issue might be, it sounds like the wide receiver is expected to rejoin his teammates soon, competing for snaps in a position group that also includes Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb.

Placed on NFI list
Stills has been placed on the Texans' non-football illness list, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: It remains to be seen how long Stills' unspecified illness keeps him sidelined, but once he's available, he'll compete for wide receiver snaps with Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb. For now, there doesn't seem to be a clear path to steady targets for Stills, but that's a conclusion based on the aforementioned trio all being healthy enough to play.

Facing snap competition
Stills is part of a receiving corps that also includes Brandin Cooks, Will Fuller (sports hernia) and Randall Cobb, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The DeAndre Hopkins trade temporarily freed up about 10 targets per game, but the Texans were quick to sign Cobb and later traded for Cooks. While the absence of a clear No. 1 receiver might hint at a degree of opportunity, Stills now faces tough competition for snaps, assuming all four receivers are still on the roster come Week 1. Larger role expected in 2020
The Texans will rely on Stills more this coming season after the team traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Stills moves up to second on the depth chart, while Will Fuller becomes the team's No. 1 wideout. Trading Hopkins leaves a huge void in the passing game, one which head coach Bill O'Brien hopes to be filled by Stills and Fuller. Hopkins accounted for 29.3 percent of Houston's catches in 2019, the third highest share by any player in the NFL last season. Stills (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: As is fellow wideout Will Fuller (groin), and while it's unclear how heavy of a workload he'll be handed following a two-game absence, Fuller's presence figures to impact Stills, who was on the field for all but one offensive snap in last weekend's wild-card win over the Bills. Analysis: Stills was on the field for all but one of the Texans' 69 snaps on offense in last weekend's wild-card win over the Bills, and with no reported setbacks since then, we'll operate under the assumption that his practice limitations were maintenance-related, and the wideout will be good to go against Kansas City. Stills (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Stills was also limited to start last week before playing 99 percent of the offensive snaps in the Texans' wild-card win over the Bills, so it's fair to assume he was just getting some extra maintenance to begin the current week. His fantasy upside in Sunday's divisional-round matchup with the Chiefs is tied in part to the status of fellow wideout Will Fuller (groin), who is making progress but is not yet considered a lock to play this weekend.

Solid effort in OT win
Stills caught four of five targets for 46 yards in Saturday's 22-19 overtime wild-card win over the Bills.
Analysis: With Will Fuller V (groin) sidelined once again, Stills worked as the Texans' No. 2 WR, and after the team was held scoreless in the first half, he was able to connect with Deshaun Watson on some key grabs in the fourth quarter as Houston made its comeback. Fuller could be back in the lineup next Sunday against the Chiefs in the AFC divisional round, but even if Stills retains his more prominent role on the depth chart, he'd likely take a back seat to DeAndre Hopkins and the running game.

Stills (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Saturday's playoff game against the Bills after logging a full practice Thursday.
Analysis: While Stills has been cleared to play after being inactive in Week 17, James Palmer of NFL Network indicates that Will Fuller (groin) looks like a long-shot to suit up this weekend. Stills (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Analysis: As is Will Fuller (groin). Meanwhile, DeAndre Hopkins (illness) is not among the team's inactives, but per ESPN.com, he isn't expected to play much, if at all Sunday, a scenario that would leave DeAndre Carter, Keke Coutee and Steven Mitchell to handle the bulk of the Texans' Week 17 wideout duties.

Listed as questionable
Stills (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills was able to practice in a limited fashion this week, but assuming he's listed as active Sunday, how much work he might see is hard to predict. The Texans and Titans kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET, and Houston's playoff seeding would be locked in if the Chiefs defeat the Chargers during the first wave of Week 17 games.

Logs limited practice Thursday
Stills (knee) was limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis: We'll circle back on Stills' status Friday to see if he's listed as questionable or minus an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans. Per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, if the Chiefs, who kick off at 1:00 ET, beat the Chargers on Sunday, the result of the Texans' regular-season finale (which starts at 4:25 ET) wouldn't affect the team's playoff seeding. That's a context that will be worth monitoring as it pertains to any of Houston's banged up players, like Stills.

Dealing with knee issue
Stills (knee) was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: Stills' status will be revisited again Thursday, when the Texans return to the field for a traditional practice. If Stills is healthy enough to play Sunday against the Titans, his profile in the team's passing attack could expand while Will Fuller (groin) is likely sidelined for at least one game, at a minimum.

Briefly leaves win
Stills dealt with muscle cramps that briefly sidelined during Saturday's 23-20 win over the Buccaneers in Week 16, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Stills became a big factor in the game when Will Fuller (groin) was forced to exit early. With Keke Coutee inactive, Stills' return from injury was needed. He finished with five catches on nine targets for a team-high 57 yards.

Targeted nine times in win
Stills caught five of nine passes for 57 yards during Saturday's 23-20 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The Texans wasted no time getting Stills the ball to start the second half, quickly getting him gains of 12, 21 and nine yards on the way to a key field-goal drive. Saturday marked a season high in both catches and targets for Stills and his 57 yards were his fourth most of the season. He'll have a chance to wrap up the regular season on a hot streak in a rematch against the Titans, a tough defense against whom Stills snagged two touchdowns in Week 15. Pair of touchdowns in win
Stills brought in all three of his targets for 35 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans' 24-21 win over the Titans on Sunday.
Analysis: Stills bumped back down to the No. 3 receiver role with Will Fuller back from his hamstring injury, but he actually fared better than he had in several games as a starter this season. Stills notched scoring grabs of 12 and 16 yards in the first quarter, his third and fourth touchdowns of the campaign. Stills' target volume still remains very difficult to trust from week to week, especially as a third wideout, so despite Sunday's success and a favorable Week 16 matchup against the Buccaneers,…read more

Larger workload, two targets
Stills caught two of two targets for eight yards while playing 77 snaps (96 percent) in Sunday's 38-24 loss to Denver.
Analysis: Stills figured to get a larger workload with Will Fuller (hamstring) inactive, but a concurrent increase in targets did not occur. This, despite Deshaun Watson throwing a season-high 50 times. DeAndre Hopkins (13 targets), Jordan Akins (nine), Keke Coutee (eight) and Duke Johnson (eight) were instead the main options for Watson in Fuller's absence.

In line for larger workload
Stills is expected to receive an expanded snap count due to the expected absence of Will Fuller (hamstring) on Sunday against the Broncos, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: When Fuller sat out Weeks 8, 9 and 11 after initially suffering a hamstring injury, Stills earned at least 86 percent of the offensive snaps in each contest. However, his impact on the box score was modest, at best, as he totaled 11 catches (on 16 targets) for 101 yards and no touchdowns. More than likely, Deshaun Watson will focus most of his attention on top wideout DeAndre Hopkins, but Stills and Keke Coutee (to a lesser extent) should be presented with an opportunity to produce.

Hits paydirt on SNF
Stills had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-22 win over New England.
Analysis: The Patriots did not want to give up the deep ball to Deshaun Watson and this talented Houston receiver corps, which may explain why Will Fuller (one reception for eight yards) was a non-factor while Stills was able to find room to operate. The 27-year-old took a huge hit in value when the former returned from injury last week, but this performance should keep the team's slot man relevant in deeper formats. That said, Stills' opportunities will be unpredictable at best.

Marginalized in Fuller's return
Stills caught one of two targets for six yards in Thursday's 20-17 win over the Colts in Week 12.
Analysis: After racking up 21 targets and playing 94 percent of the snaps with WIll Fuller sidelined by a hamstring injury over the previous four games, Stills experienced a significant drop in both categories in Fuller's return. The two targets were his fewest since Week 4. As long as Fuller is healthy, Stills will be a distant third in the pecking order. It could be worse, though. He's ahead of Keke Coutee, who was healthy scratch Thursday.

Makes four grabs in loss
Stills secured four of seven targets for 27 yards in the Texans' 41-7 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
Analysis: Stills filled in for Will Fuller (hamstring) as the No. 2 receiver once again, but his numbers were pedestrian against a suffocating Ravens defense. The veteran speedster has no more than 52 receiving yards in any of the three games subsequent to his 105-yard effort Week 7, and he therefore remains a highly speculative play in all formats if Fuller is unable to return to action with the quick Week 12 turnaround Thursday night versus the Colts.

Plays through injuries in win
Stills caught all four of his targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Jaguars in London.
Analysis: This was a gutsy effort from Stills, who twice had to leave the field due to injuries. While the nature of the injuries is unknown, they weren't severe enough to keep Stills from getting back into the game. He ultimately finished second behind Duke Johnson in receiving yardage, topping 50 yards for the third time this season.
