Bumps to active roster
Travis was promoted to the Jets' active roster from the practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: The 27-year-old was restored to the practice squad from the COVID-19 list Monday, and it didn't take long for him to make his way to the active roster. Travis appeared in one game earlier this season and played three offensive snaps.

Hits COVID list
The Jets placed Travis on the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Travis was placed on the list because he either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with someone who did. He'll need to clear the proper protocols before returning to team activities.

Reverts to practice squad
Travis reverted to the Jets' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: The 27-year-old was elevated from the practice squad for Monday's loss to the Patriots and played a handful of snaps between offense and special teams. Travis could be elevated to the active roster again later in the season, but for now he'll remain on the practice squad.

Comes up to 53-man roster
The Jets elevated Travis to the active roster Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The Jets placed Trevon Wesco (ankle) on injured reserve, so Travis will slot in as the team's No. 4 tight end until Wesco returns. Travis hasn't played yet in 2020, but he suited up in three games with the Colts last year and caught four of six targets for 51 yards.

Let go by Jets
New York cut Travis on Saturday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Travis spent the entire offseason in New York, but he wasn't able to parlay that opportunity into a spot on the final roster. He appeared in three games with the Colts in 2019, during which span he had four catches for 51 yards.

Won't play in finale
Travis (coach's decision) won't play in Sunday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: Travis was claimed off waivers from the Colts on Saturday, so it's confusing why he was scooped with no plans of him playing in the Jets' finale. However, the Jets may have liked what they saw out of the 26-year-old Travis over three games with the Colts this season, so they could be trying to keep him with the franchise through the offseason program.

Plucked off waivers
The Jets claimed Travis off waivers from the Colts on Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Travis played three games with the Colts -- his first NFL action since 2017 -- and caught four of six targets for 51 yards. With Ryan Griffin (ankle) on injured reserve, Travis will add depth in the tight-end room. This will work as a tryout for Travis heading into the 2020 season.

Hits waivers
The Colts cut Travis on Friday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old had suited up in three of the last four contests for the Colts, hauling in four of six targets for 51 yards. With Week 17 on the horizon, it's likely that Travis will have to wait until 2020 to latch on with another team.

Just one reception Sunday
Travis had just one reception for one yard on his only target in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: A week after he had his first two receptions of the season. Travis had a much smaller role and played just five snaps. It doesn't look like Mo Alie-Cox (16 snaps) or Travis will be big factors in the passing game even with Eric Ebron on IR with an ankle injury and several other wide receivers sidelined.

Two receptions Sunday
Travis had two receptions for 31 yards on three targets in Sunday's loss to Tennessee.
Analysis: It's notable that Travis got the start at TE in a two-TE formation over Mo Alie-Cox. While he played on just 12 snaps compared to Mo Alie-Cox's 15 snaps, Travis went out for a pass on 12 snaps compared to three for Alie-Cox. Travis could continue to get a few targets per game if Chester Rogers (knee), T.Y. Hilton (calf) and Parris Campbell (hand) all remain out with injuries.

Rejoins Indianapolis
The Colts signed Travis to a contract Monday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Travis rejoins Indianapolis' roster with Eric Ebron (ankle) set to be placed on injured reserve. He'll provide depth at the tight end position behind Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox. Travis appeared in four games with the Colts in 2017, hauling in two of five targets for 33 yards. He missed the 2018 season with a knee injury.
