Garners interest from Texans
Dixon (knee) worked out with the Texans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Dixon suffered a fractured knee during the preseason and was waived from IR with an injury settlement by the Ravens on Sept. 2. It appears Dixon may be at full health, but it remains to be seen how his knee responded to the workout. Dixon has registered 148 carries for 715 yards and two touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 213 yards and a score over 18 NFL games since entering the league in 2016.

Released with injury settlement
Dixon, who has a fractured knee, will be released by the Ravens with an injury settlement, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Due to the nature of his injury, it will be some time before Dixon will be able to consider catching on with another team. With the Ravens having moved on from the 2016 fourth-rounder, he'll look to reboot his career elsewhere once he's fully recovered from his knee injury.

Fractures knee
Dixon suffered a fractured knee, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Placed on injured reserve over the weekend, Dixon is expected to be waived/injured in the coming days. Coach John Harbaugh said the 2016 fourth-round pick will be moving on from the Ravens, though the nature of his injury suggests Dixon won't be able to play in games anytime soon, even if he finds an interested team.

Lands on IR
Dixon (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It's a bit strange to see Dixon hit injured reserve without any information regarding what sort of injury, but considering he'll miss the entire 2019 season it's clear it's serious. Justice Hill stands to benefit the most from Dixon's absence, as the rookie running back is expected to heavily factor in as a receiving back -- a role Dixon would have likely split had he not suffered the undisclosed injury.

Caps preseason with 66 yards
Dixon rushed for 66 yards on 13 carries during Thursday's 20-7 win over Washington.
Analysis: Dixon's been dealing with a knee injury in recent weeks, but showed plenty of wiggle in the preseason finale, particularly on a 16-yard run he bounced to the right edge late in the first quarter. Dixon's kind of in a weird spot. On one hand, depth running backs are more valuable in Baltimore than other squads given the presumed emphasis that will be placed on the run. On the other, Dixon was already passed over by the emergence of Gus Edwards, only to see the Ravens add veteran Mark Ingram and…read more

Returns from knee issue
Dixon (knee) returned to Tuesday's joint practice session with the Eagles, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Dixon appeared to play through the injury during last week's preseason win over Green Bay, getting some work with the first-team offense en route to finishing with six carries for 14 yards and one catch for nine yards. It isn't clear if he'll be available for Thursday's exhibition versus Philadelphia, but the usage last week at least suggests Dixon is on track for a roster spot -- something that came into question after the Ravens used a fourth-round pick on Justice Hill. The team's run-first…read more

Misses two more practices
Dixon (knee) didn't practice Sunday or Monday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: The same goes for Gus Edwards, who hasn't been reported with any injury. The Ravens may be down to Mark Ingram, Justice Hill, De'Lance Turner and Tyler Ervin in the backfield for Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles.

Misses practice Saturday
Dixon did not participate in Saturday's practice due to a knee injury, Jeff Zrebiec of the Athletic reports.
Analysis: The extent of Dixon's knee issue is a bit unclear at this point, but his status for Thursday's preseason tilt against the Eagles may be up in the air. His spot on the 53-man roster is far from a guarantee, so he'll look to return in a timely manner as he competes for a depth role at running back behind Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards.

May be on roster bubble
Dixon did not make Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic's initial roster projection after Baltimore's first preseason game.
Analysis: This is just one beat writer's projection with plenty of time to go in the preseason, but it provides some insight into Dixon's current standing in the roster shuffle. Dixon is in the final year of his rookie deal after three underwhelming seasons and Baltimore made several big additions to the backfield in the offseason. Keeping Dixon would mean keeping four running backs on the 53-man roster, a practice that's becoming less and less common in today's NFL, especially when said back does not…read more

Gains 21 yards in opener
Dixon ran for 21 yards on four carries during Thursday's 29-0 win over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Veteran acquisition Mark Ingram did not carry the ball Thursday and so Dixon mixed in with Gus Edwards during Baltimore's first couple of drives. He stayed behind long enough to pop off a 16-yard gain with Trace McSorley at quarterback. It'll be worth watching in the next few weeks whether Baltimore keeps Dixon in the shuffle when Ingram is in the mix, or if Dixon will be relegated to a more traditional third-string role as the preseason moves on.

Returns to practice
Dixon (undisclosed) practiced Thursday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official website reports.
Analysis: After missing the last round of OTAs, the fourth-year pro returned to the field this week. Dixon will need to battle for a roster spot, as Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and fourth-round pick Justice Hill seem to have three jobs locked down. The team typically has carried three running backs under coach John Harbaugh but kept four on the roster late last year. Given the run-heavy nature of the offense with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, Baltimore may be able to find room for Dixon.

Not practicing
Dixon (undisclosed) hasn't participated in OTAs this week, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Dixon can't afford to miss too much practice time this spring/summer, as he'll need to compete for a roster spot after the Ravens signed Mark Ingram and used a fourth-round pick on Justice Hill. The 25-year-old running back averaged 5.6 yards on 60 carries last year, but injuries and suspension have limited him to 18 games through three seasons in the NFL. Passing downs may offer Dixon his best chance at a meaningful role, though he doesn't exactly fit the scatback profile at 5-foot-10, 228…read more

Left on roster bubble
Dixon will need to compete for a roster spot this summer, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With fourth-round pick Justice Hill joining free-agent signee Mark Ingram in the Baltimore backfield, Dixon will probably be the odd man out -- rather than Gus Edwards -- if the team decides to carry just three running backs. The Ravens could keep four if Dixon establishes value on special teams, and there's always a chance injuries thin out the herd this summer. The 25-year-old is entering the final season of his rookie contract with just 18 NFL appearances to his name, but he did average 5.6…read more

Stuck behind Ingram in Baltimore
Dixon and Gus Edwards figure to rotate in behind Mark Ingram in 2019, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official website reports.
Analysis: Dixon took advantage of his limited opportunities last season with 60 carries for 333 yards (5.6 average) and two touchdowns in six games, but he also coughed up two fumbles during the regular season and another in Baltimore's lone playoff contest. He now projects as the No. 3 running back in a run-heavy offense, with some chance to land on the roster bubble this summer if the Ravens draft or sign additional competition. Passing downs could represent Dixon's best chance at a regular role,…read more

Makes late impact through air
Dixon rushed six times for 13 yards and brought in all three targets for 53 yards in the Ravens' 23-17 wild-card loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: With the Ravens falling behind early and trailing wire to wire, the running game was increasingly marginalized as the afternoon wore on. However, Dixon found a way to make an impact as a receiver at a critical juncture, notching all three of his grabs on the day during a fourth-quarter drive that culminated in Michael Crabtree's second touchdown catch of the period. Dixon did commit a costly fumble early, however, having the ball stripped at his own 12-yard line by Melvin Ingram with 9:39…read more

Leads way on ground
Dixon carried the ball 12 times for 117 yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Browns. He added one reception for two yards.
Analysis: Dixon split work evenly with Gus Edwards and posted his second-highest carry total of the season. However, it was by far his best yardage output, paced by four rushes of over 10 yards. As has become the story of his career, Dixon's season was derailed by a knee injury, though when he was on the field, he performed admirably, averaging 5.6 yards per carry on 60 rushing attempts. He'll be entering the final year of his contract in 2019, and if he can remain healthy, he figures to maintain at…read more

Maintains modest role
Dixon ran the ball eight times for 28 yards, adding 20 more yards on two receptions (three targets) in Saturday's 22-10 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Dixon also lost a fumble, but it was otherwise a solid showing for the backup. Gus Edwards has clearly become the top rushing option out of the backfield for Baltimore, limiting Dixon's upside on a weekly basis. The latter has been averaging right around 10 touches over the past four weeks, creating some deep-league value (but nothing more) heading into Week 17's matchup with the Browns.

Sees slight bump in workload
Dixon rushed 11 times for 48 yards and brought in his only target for two yards in the Ravens' 20-12 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Analysis: Dixon saw a slight increase from the eight carries apiece he logged in the past two games, with Ty Montgomery's inactive status helping him lock in backup duties for the afternoon. Dixon continues to be efficient on a per-touch basis, and his workload could continue its upward trend against the Chargers in a Saturday night Week 16 matchup.

No competition for backup carries
Dixon is the presumed clear-cut No. 2 running back behind Gus Edwards for Sunday's Week 15 tilt against the Buccaneers with Ty Montgomery (coach's decision) inactive for the contest.
Analysis: Dixon has impressed while taking 16 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown and adding two receptions for 27 yards over his first two games back from injured reserve. The second-year back won't have Montgomery to compete with for carries behind Gus Edwards, although Javorius Allen, who hasn't logged any snaps from scrimmage over the last pair of contests, will be in uniform as the presumed No. 3 running back.

Could see role grow
Coach John Harbaugh said he expects Dixon's role to grow, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Gus Edwards is doing solid work in the lead role with 4.8 yards per carry, but he only has one touchdown and one reception all season, with a long gain of 19 yards on 92 carries. Dixon has added an element of explosiveness in two games since his activation from injured reserve, taking 16 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 27 yards. With Ty Montgomery also getting some snaps -- especially on passing downs -- the Baltimore backfield is turning into a three-headed…read more

Makes most of opportunity
Dixon had eight carries for 59 yards and a touchdown with one catch for 21 yards on his lone target in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Gus Edwards once again led the way with 16 carries for 67 yards, but Dixon continued to make his case after gaining 37 yards on eight carries the previous week against Atlanta. Limited by injuries and suspension to this point in his career, Dixon is finally getting a chance to show why the Ravens keep giving him opportunities. Granted, his timeshare role will make it tough to produce on a consistent basis, with Ty Montgomery also getting backfield snaps in Baltimore. The Ravens do get a…read more

Nets nine touches in return
Dixon rushed for 37 yards on eight carries and added a six-yard catch in his return from injured-reserve during a 26-16 win over Atlanta.
Analysis: Coming off of a knee injury, Dixon slid in for veteran Alex Collins (foot) who was placed on injured reserve this week. Rookie Gus Edwards is averaging 20 carries per game over the past three weeks and figures to be the lead back moving forward, with Ty Montgomery serving as the pass-catcher and both Dixon and Lamar Jackson adding to the ground attack. Week 14 could bring a good matchup for Dixon, as the Chiefs are surrendering a sizable 5.0 yards per carry. The key will be whether the Ravens…read more

Will dress Sunday vs. Falcons
Dixon (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Falcons, one day after the Ravens activated him from injured reserve, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Dixon, who was shut down with the injury after logging 44 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in the season-opening win over the Bills, took the roster spot of Alex Collins (foot). Though Collins had served as the Ravens' running back for most of the season before landing on IR, Gus Edwards had supplanted him as the favored option out of the backfield the last two weeks while working alongside dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson. Edwards should at least tentatively continue to top the depth…read more

Activated off injured reserve
Dixon (knee) was activated off injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: The Ravens opted to place Alex Collins (foot) on injured reserve Saturday, opening the door for Dixon to make his return after injuring his knee in the opening game of the season. It's worth noting that Dixon looked particularly promising during that contest, combining with quarterback Lamar Jackson on a number of devastating read-option plays during the second half when the game was already well out of reach. Still, given Dixon's prolonged absence and the emergence of Gus Edwards (ankle), it's…read more

Could be activated for Week 13
Dixon (knee) could be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports. "[Dixon is] real close," coach John Harbaugh said Friday. "I think he's also an option for Sunday. We'll see if he's out there or not. We'd have to make the roster work as well."
Analysis: The Ravens' decision two weeks ago to use one of its two designated-to-return spots on Dixon was a curious one, given that the team already had four running backs on the roster. However, injuries have since hit the Baltimore backfield with both Alex Collins (foot) and Gus Edwards (ankle) listed as questionable for Sunday's contest. Edwards seems the likelier bet of the two to play, and if Collins is unavailable, it could prompt the Ravens to bring Dixon back into the mix. In such a scenario,…read more

Designated to return from IR
The Ravens cleared Dixon (knee) to resume practicing Friday.
Analysis: Dixon has already spent more than the minimum eight weeks on injured reserve, so he'll be eligible to return to the active roster at any point over the next three weeks now that he's back practicing again. With three veteran running backs already on the Balitmore roster, Dixon's role would be uncertain if he's ultimately activated from IR. The Louisiana Tech product did draw 28 snaps in Week 1 while Javorius Allen took 38 and Alex Collins handled 34, so there's a good chance Dixon factors into…read more

May be in trouble with league
Coach John Harbaugh dropped a hint that Dixon (knee) may be in danger of facing league discipline again, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Harbaugh said the Ravens need clearance from the NFL before they can bring Dixon back on the practice field, suggesting there's something at play besides the knee injury that landed the running back on injured reserve after Week 1. Dixon will be eligible to return after a Week 10 bye, but it doesn't seem the Ravens are counting on much -- especially not after they traded for Ty Montgomery.
