Turns to coaching
Webb has retired from the NFL and was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the Broncos on Saturday, Andrew Crane of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Webb was a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and made the lone start of his career in Week 18 of the 2022 season. He performed admirably, but even so, he's decided to retire at the age of 28.

Shifts back to practice squad
Webb reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Webb stepped in as the Giants' starting quarterback Week 18 with top signal-caller Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor both active but not participating. As a result, the 6-foot-5 Webb went 23-for-40 passing for 168 yards and a touchdown as well as six rushes for 41 yards and a score on the ground. Webb also handled all 63 of the team's offensive snaps while making the second appearance of his career. Expect the 27-year-old to serve as the Giants' next best option at quarterback if either Jones or…read more

Produces two TDs in first start
Webb completed 23 of 40 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown while adding 41 rushing yards and a TD on six carries in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Making his first career NFL start with the Giants sitting most of their starters in a season finale that had little on the line for them, Webb didn't have much luck stretching the field as only one of his completions went for more than 16 yards, but that one was a 25-yard score to Kenny Golladay in the fourth quarter. With Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor both free agents in the offseason, it's possible Webb could return and have a bigger role for the Giants in 2023, but more likely he'll be…read more

On tap for Week 18 start
Webb, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, is expected to serve as the Giants' starting quarterback in Sunday's game against the Eagles, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: With the Giants locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs, the Giants won't take any chances with top signal-caller Daniel Jones, who is expected to be inactive for the contest. Though Tyrod Taylor has served as Jones' top backup all season, the Giants plan to keep him in the No. 2 role once again in Week 18, setting up Webb to make the second appearance of his NFL career. Over his three outings in the preseason with New York, Webb completed 60 of 81 pass attempts for 457 yards, three…read more

Returns to practice squad
Webb reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Webb was on hand in case disaster struck at quarterback for the Giants in the big Week 15 game against Washington. Both Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor made it out of the 20-12 win unscathed, so Webb's services weren't necessary.

Bumps up from practice squad
Webb was elevated from the practice squad Saturday.
Analysis: Webb has not seen the field in 2022. With Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor both healthy, it is unlikely Webb gets any game action and will instead provide insurance in case of injury.

Returns to practice squad
Webb reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Webb was Daniel Jones' backup with Tyrod Taylor out due to a concussion. Since Jones was able to play through his ankle injury, Webb remained on the sidelines throughout the win over the Packers.

Elevated as expected
The Giants elevated Webb on Saturday from their practice squad to their active roster for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Analysis: Daniel Jones has been cleared to play despite an ankle injury, but Tyrod Taylor (concussion) has been ruled out, so as expected, Webb will get the elevation and serve as the primary backup to the aforementioned Jones. Webb was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but he's appeared in just one NFL contest and has yet to attempt a pass.

In line to serve as backup
Webb will likely be elevated from the Giants' practice squad to serve as the No. 2 quarterback for Sunday's game against the Packers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Although Daniel Jones will be available for Sunday's matchup in London, Tyrod Taylor (concussion) has been ruled out. As a result, Webb should be called up to serve as the Giants' backup quarterback. The 2017 third-rounder hasn't yet attempted a pass during the regular season in the NFL.

Could be pressed into action for NY
Webb could be asked to either start or work as a backup for the Giants in their Week 5 contest against Green Bay in London with the status of both Daniel Jones (ankle) and Tyrod Taylor (concussion) currently unclear, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Though Jones was able to re-enter Sunday's win over Chicago after hurting his ankle in the third quarter, he didn't throw another pass, initially ceding snaps to Saquon Barkley out of the wildcat and subsequently handing off the ball to run out the clock. He likely wouldn't have been in the game at all if not for Taylor's injury, which was later confirmed to be a concussion. Taylor's ability to play in London next weekend is in considerable doubt given his diagnoses, and it's possible that…read more

Headed to practice squad
The Giants signed Webb to the practice squad Wednesday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Webb will return to New York via the practice squad after being released as part of the team's final roster cuts Tuesday. The 27-year-old signal-caller registered an impressive preseason campaign with the Giants, and it's possible that he could still land on another team's active roster this regular season. For now, Webb should serve as the Giants' emergency backup if quarterbacks Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor (back) are unable to suit up on any gamedays this regular season.

Let go by Big Blue
The Giants waived Webb on Tuesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Webb was dynamic during the preseason, compiling 458 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing 74 percent of his passes. His release suggests that backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (back) should be full go by the start of the regular season, but it's possible that Webb will get a look from another team after his breakout performances during the Giants' exhibition contests. Webb has only appeared in one career regular-season game, garnering four offensive snaps with the Bills…read more

Impressive in extended action
Webb completed 30 of 38 pass attempts for 202 yards and one touchdown without an interception in Sunday's preseason win over Cincinnati. He added four carries for 13 yards on the ground.
Analysis: Starter Daniel Jones didn't play in the contest, and backup Tyrod Taylor exited with a back injury near the end of the first quarter. As a result, Webb played the remainder of the game, and he seized the opportunity, connecting with 13 different receivers for 202 yards. His lone touchdown came on an 18-yard hookup with tight end Austin Allen in the fourth quarter. Webb already had a good chance of making the 53-man roster as the Giants' third quarterback, and his strong play over the past two…read more

Shines Sunday against Bengals
Webb completed 22 of 27 pass attempts for 204 yards and two touchdowns without committing a turnover in Sunday's 25-22 preseason win over Cincinnati.
Analysis: The New York passing game was very effective in the contest, as Webb, Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor combined to complete 43 of 54 passes for 356 yards. Webb had the most attempts, completions and yards of the trio, and he threw for the team's only two passing touchdowns. The 27-year-old connected with Alex Bachman twice for scores, including a 15-yard connection with 35 seconds remaining in the contest that pulled New York ahead for good. Inks future deal
Webb was signed to a reserve/future contract by the Giants on Monday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Webb was selected in the third round of the 2017 draft by the Giants, but he has bounced around the league since. After being cut during their 2018 training camp, Webb has had a stint with the Jets and most recently has been on the Bills' practice squad. The five-year veteran will work to make his second chance with the Giants stick in 2022.

Back to practice squad
Webb reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Webb was a gameday elevation for Sunday's blowout victory over the Jets, and he played four offensive snaps at the end of the contest without attempting a pass. He was elevated against New York since Mitchell Trubisky (illness) was unavailable while on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but Trubisky was reinstated to the active roster Monday.

Webb was elevated to the Bills' active roster Thursday, Chris Jenkins of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Webb will be a member of the Bills' active roster for Sunday's game against the Jets. With Mitchell Trubisky currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Webb may find himself backing up Josh Allen for the second straight week.

Webb was elevated to the Bills' active roster Saturday.

Back with Buffalo
Webb was one of 15 players signed to the Bills' practice squad Wednesday, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Also signed to the practice squad was fellow quarterback Jake Fromm, so it's not quite clear which quarterback the team would elevate if either Josh Allen or Mitchell Trubisky suffers an injury. Webb is said to be a strong presence in the quarterback room, so the Bills are likely happy to keep him in the fold on some level, even though he may not initially be suiting up for game days.

Hits streets with Fromm
Webb was waived by Buffalo on Tuesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Webb had been competing with second-year man Jake Fromm for a spot as a potential third QB for the Bills, but in the end the team decided to roll with just two quarterbacks, and neither Webb nor Fromm made the final roster. If only one of the two young quarterbacks gets snatched up on waivers, the other will almost certainly be invited back to Buffalo's practice squad.

Strong showing Friday
Webb completed 11 of 16 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown and a 103.6 rating in Friday's preseason win over the Lions. He did not throw an interception and ran two times for 26 yards.
Analysis: Look out Josh Allen, Webb is coming for your job! Kidding aside, Webb is in a tight competition for the No. 3 role (if the Bills elect to keep three quarterbacks) with second-year man Jake Fromm, who was less effective than Webb on Friday with a 74.2 rating while throwing no TD passes and taking two sacks.

Staying in Buffalo
Webb signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Tuesday.
Analysis: Webb shuffled between active roster and practice squad all season but never took a regular-season snap. It's the second-straight season that Webb has signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills. Veteran Matt Barkley is heading into free agency, potentially leaving Josh Allen and Jake Fromm as the only other quarterbacks on the roster.

Shifts back to practice squad
Webb reverted to the Bills' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Webb was elevated to the active roster for Monday's win over the Patriots, but he was a healthy scratch. The 2017 third-round pick has yet to make his NFL debut.

Elevated from practice squad
Webb was promoted to Buffalo's active roster from the practice squad Monday.
Analysis: The 25-year-old is a gameday elevation for quarterback depth but remains a healthy scratch for Monday's contest. Webb will revert back to the Bills' practice squad later this week.

Waived by Buffalo
Webb was waived by the Bills on Saturday, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: It seems likely Webb will wind up on the Bills' practice squad in the near future, although it's a frustrating conclusion to an offseason in which the 2017 third-round pick hoped to compete for the backup job. Matt Barkley and Jake Fromm both made it onto the 53-man roster, so even were starter Josh Allen to go down with an injury, don't expect Webb to make a significant jump up the depth chart.

Secures pact with Bills
Webb signed a reserve/future deal with the Bills on Monday.
Analysis: Webb was the Giants' third-round pick in 2017, but he only spent one season with the team and never touched the field as a backup to Eli Manning. The 24-year-old will compete for the backup job in Buffalo in 2020. Whether Matt Barkley -- the current backup to Josh Allen -- is still around remains to be seen, as Barkley will be an unrestricted free agent in March.
