Suiting up Sunday
Whitehead (knee) is active for Sunday's NFC divisional-round matchup in New Orleans.
Analysis: Whitehead was limited in practice Friday, but he'll be good to go for Sunday's playoff game against the Saints. He'll draw his usual start at free safety, just as he did during all 16 regular-season games and the wild-card win over Washington.

Knee injury pops up
Whitehead (knee) is questionable for Sunday's NFC divisional-round game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Analysis: Whitehead was added to the injury report Friday as a limited practice participant. It's always concerning when a player is added so late in the week, so the third-year safety may be trending toward a game-time decision. Whitehead played all 16 games during the regular season and posted 74 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions and two sacks. Mike Edwards should slot in at free safety if Whitehead is ruled out.

Nabs second interception
Whitehead posted seven tackles (four solo), including one for loss, and recorded an interception in the Buccaneers' 27-24 loss to the Rams on Monday night.
Analysis: The third-year safety came up with one of a few positive plays for the Buccaneers secondary on a night when Jared Goff lit them up for 376 yards and three touchdowns, picking off the Rams quarterback at his 46-yard line midway through the fourth quarter with the Buccaneers down by a touchdown. Whitehead's timely pick led to a game-tying score on the short field for Tampa Bay and qualified as his second of the season. Despite also producing a solid 56 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble…read more

Season-best tackle tally in loss
Whitehead posted eight tackles (five solo), including two for loss, in the Buccaneers' 38-3 loss to the Saints on Sunday night.
Analysis: The 23-year-old set a new season high in tackles with the performance, one-upping the seven stops he'd posted against the Giants in Week 8. Whitehead is now averaging 5.0 tackles per contest and has also recorded the first two sacks of his career this season, but he is allowing a career-worst 68.8 percent of passes to be completed against him in primary coverage. The third-year pro will look to put together another productive outing in a Week 10 battle against the Panthers.

No injury designation for Week 6
Whitehead (knee) was a limited practice participant Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Packers, Adam Caplan of Sirius XM Radio reports.
Analysis: Whitehead sandwiched Thursday's missed session between a pair of limited practices, but he apparently showed enough to be kept off the final injury report. The safety should be out there on game day as the Buccaneers try to slow down an explosive Packers offense that's averaging a league-high 38.0 points per game.

Downgraded Thursday
Whitehead (knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Whitehead was at least able to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, so this news is certainly a worrisome sign for his chances to suit up in Week 6. Whitehead has been strong in his starting role this year, racking up 18 solo tackles and an interception. If he's forced to miss Sunday's game against Green Bay, look for Andrew Adams to draw the start.

Managing injury
Whitehead (knee) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Whitehead suited up in 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps during Thursday's loss to Chicago, so it's likely that the team is managing his practice reps ahead of Week 6. The Pittsburgh product has been solid this campaign as a starter, recording 26 tackles (18 solo), two sacks and an interception through five games. If Whitehead was to miss any time due to injury, Andrew Adams would be in line for the start at free safety.

Productive again in Week 5
Whitehead posted six tackles (two solo), including one for loss, in the Buccaneers' 20-19 loss to the Bears on Thursday night.
Analysis: Whitehead checked in second in tackles for the Bucs on the night and equaled his season high. The 23-year-old had recorded a sack apiece in each of the previous two games, and although that modest streak was snapped Thursday, Whitehead continued to offer solid IDP production for fantasy managers. The 2018 fourth-round pick figures to be busy in Week 6, as a matchup against the potent Packers offense awaits next Sunday afternoon.

Records another sack
Whitehead posted four tackles (all solo) and a sack in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
Analysis: Whitehead was able to get to the quarterback for the second straight week while drawing even with Devin White for the third-most tackles on the afternoon. The third-year safety has been reasonably productive from an IDP standpoint over the first four games with two sacks and an interception in addition to his 20 stops, but he has seen his tackle tally drop in each contest thus far.

Active in Week 3 win
Whitehead recorded five tackles (four solo), including a sack, and was credited with an additional quarterback hit in a 28-10 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
Analysis: Whitehead checked in fourth in tackles and recorded his first career sack in the process, a week after he notched an interception of the Panthers' Teddy Bridgewater. The third-year pro is enjoying a strong start to the season overall -- he's posted at least five stops in each contest and is on pace for 85 tackles, which would easily eclipse his rookie-season career high of 76 over 15 games back in 2018.

Set to reprise starting role
Whitehead (hamstring) is expected to reprise his starting role as Tampa Bay's top free safety in 2020, Greg Auman of the Athletic reports.
Analysis: Whitehead has managed impressive growth every season since joining the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he's also yet to suit up for a full 16-game slate. After missing one game due to a concussion in 2018 and two games in 2019 with a hamstring injury, the 23-year-old will look to maintain full health in 2020.

Shifts to IR
Whitehead (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Analysis: Whitehead left this past Sunday's win over the Lions with a hamstring injury, and he'll be shut down for the last two weeks of the year. The second-year safety ends the season with 69 tackles (50 solo), nine pass breakups and an interception. Andrew Adams figures to start in Whitehead's stead, and Darian Stewart should benefit from his absence as well.

Done for day
Whitehead won't return to Sunday's game against the Lions after sustaining a hamstring injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Analysis: Whitehead led the team with nine tackles during Week 14's win over the Colts, and he registered a tackle for loss before exiting this game. Andrew Adams is expected to fill Whitehead's role for the rest of the game. Whitehead will aim to shake off the injury by Saturday's game against the Texans.

Team-high tackle tally in win
Whitehead logged nine tackles (six solo), including one for loss, in the Buccaneers' 38-35 win over the Colts on Sunday.
Analysis: Whitehead enjoyed a prolific tackling day in the wild win while playing 63 defensive snaps overall. The second-year safety's tackle total was both a season- and team-high figure, and it marked his seventh game with at least six stops. Whitehead is now eight tackles away from tying his 2018 rookie-season total of 76, putting him firmly in the IDP conversation despite an overall lack of impact plays (one interception, no sacks and no fumbles forced or recovered).

Keeps racking up tackles
Whitehead logged six tackles (two solo), including a half-sack, in the Buccaneers' 35-22 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
Analysis: The second-year safety turned in his third six-tackle effort over the last four games, and he's now met or exceeded that threshold in six contests overall. Whitehead is averaging just under five stops per game from his safety spot, and although he's only corralled one interception, he's defended eight passes overall.

Active in Week 10 win
Whitehead recorded six tackles (four solo), including one for loss, in the Buccaneers' 30-27 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Analysis: Whitehead now has back-to-back six-tackle tallies, his most productive two-game stretch since Weeks 1 and 2. The second-year safety is on pace to surpass his rookie-season tally of 76 stops, and he's also cut down the completion percentage he's surrendered in primary coverage, whittling last season's 60.6 percent figure to 55.9 percent. However, Whitehead is also allowing 8.5 yards per attempt through nine 2019 contests, compared to a more palatable 7.3 figure a year ago.

Solid tackle tally in loss
Whitehead recorded seven tackles (all solo), including one for loss, and also defended a pass in the Buccaneers' 40-34 overtime loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Whitehead finished third on the team in tackles behind linebackers Devin White and Lavonte David, as he had a busy afternoon with Russell Wilson putting up 43 pass attempts. However, Wilson also accumulated 378 passing yards in the contest, so the entire secondary, which lost Carlton Davis to a hip injury in pregame warmups, struggled throughout the afternoon. Whitehead's tackle production has been tough to trust from game to game, as he tied a season high with eight three games ago but then…read more
