Heads to Minnesota
The Vikings signed Hentges to the active roster Wednesday, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hentges was signed off the Colts' practice squad, as the Vikings needed depth at tight end with both Irv Smith (back) and Kyle Rudolph (foot) battling injuries. A second-year tight end out of Alabama, Hentges hasn't played this year but did post an 8-131-1 line over 11 games with Washington in 2019. He likely won't have time to clear the COVID-19 protocols before Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Inks practice squad deal
The Colts signed Hentges to the practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: The Colts are also bringing TE Ethan Wolf onto the practice squad. Hentges played 11 games with Washington in 2019 and recorded an 8-103-1 line. The Colts already have Jack Doyle (ankle), Mo Alie-Cox and Noah Togiai on the active roster, but if Doyle can't play in Week 3 versus the Jets, Hentges has a chance to be activated.

Cut from practice squad
Washington released Hentges from the practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: Hentges linked with Washington's practice squad after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but he'll now have his spot taken by fellow tight end Temarrick Hemingway. He appeared in 11 contests for Washington in 2019.

Nabs practice squad spot
Washington signed Hentges to the practice squad Sunday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hentges didn't do enough during training camp to earn a spot on Washington's final roster, but he'll get a chance to continue his development with the team while serving as an emergency option.

Loses starting TE competition
Hengtes was waived by Washington on Saturday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: There was some hope Hengtes would be able to push Logan Thomas and Jeremy Sprinkle for the starting TE spot, but that vision never came to fruition. Hengtes, who was an undrafted free agent back in 2018, does have some familiarity with the Washington offense, having recorded eight receptions, 103 yards and a touchdown last year, so it's possible the 24-year-old could be a practice squad candidate in the near future.

Finishes season strong
Hentges finished 2019 with eight catches for 103 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets across 11 games.
Analysis: The undrafted rookie out of Alabama caught on with Indianapolis, where he was a healthy scratch throughout September. He was eventually waived by the Colts and ended up in Washington, where he mostly served as a blocker until breaking out at the end of the season with six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown over the final two weeks. Hentges should be back to compete for a role in 2020, with his chances to contribute largely depending on what the team does with its other tight ends. Vernon…read more

Grabs first touchdown
Hentges secured both his targets for 28 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's overtime loss to the Giants.
Analysis: The 23-year-old played his usual role as Washington's No. 2 tight end and was able to record the first touchdown reception of his career. Hentges should enter the season finale in the same role behind starter Jeremy Sprinkle.

Targeted three times
Hentges caught one of three targets for no gain in Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: It was his second catch in five games, with Hentges primarily serving as a blocker behind Jeremy Sprinkle. The limited role may dry up if Washington ever gets Vernon Davis out of the concussion protocol.
